‘Women on Boards’ (WOB) is an organisation that works to support women from all over Australia to be selected for board positions across the country.  WOB began in 2001 as an informal network of business women, and in 2006 was formally established as a company with the stated aim of improving the gender balance on Australian boards.

The WoB website www.womenonboards.org.au has a vast amount of information contained within it.

There is information about upcoming events such as conferences, workshops and networking events.

A number of interesting and relevant publications, articles and reports can be accessed via the WOB website.  And various resources to assist aspiring or current board members improve their skills can also be found on the site.

WOB offers a number of professional development opportunities, as well as regular webinars for those who are unable to attend their other events.  Plus they have a free mailing list that anyone can subscribe to by emailing contact@womenonboards.org.au.

There is also an option to become a paid subscriber to WOB, which offers you a range of member benefits, including discounts on most of the events and services they offer.  Paid subscribers have access to full details of all the board vacancies that are listed with WOB, which is a great resource if you are looking for board positions for which to apply.

Through WOB you can also participate in coaching and mentoring programs to help you broaden your skills, knowledge and networks too.

So if you are a woman who is interested in board roles, I really recommend checking out ‘Women on Boards’.
